What the numbers are measured against: nodes, coverage and comparability
Every measurement in this ranking runs against measurement nodes of our own. A test measures the path between the user's connection and the node, not "the internet" in the abstract: the closer the node is in network terms, the better the result looks. That is why we publish how many nodes there are, where they are and who hosts them, and why we flag as non-comparable any provider whose customers measure against a node on their own network. Those rows are shown with their warning, but they do not compete in the ranking.

- It is computed only from real speed tests run by users on this site. We use no third-party data and no estimates.
- The quality score runs from 0 to 100 and combines download, upload, jitter and packet loss: it rewards speed and penalises instability.
- Ping is shown for reference but does not count towards the score: it depends mostly on the physical distance to the measurement node and would unfairly penalise the most distant providers.
- Known limitation: with few measurement nodes, a provider that hosts one of them measures against its own network and comes out ahead. Those rows are published flagged as non-comparable and kept out of the ranking, instead of topping it.
- These are aggregated averages: no individual tests, IP addresses or personal information are exposed.
