Before Calling Tech Support

No one wants to spend hours on hold with elevator music. Follow this guide to fix it yourself or have irrefutable proof if you need to complain.

1. Rule out home issues

Most problems come from your own network, not from your provider. If you call and the problem is yours, they might charge you for the visit.

  • 1Restart EVERYTHING: Modem, Router, and your PC/Phone. Sometimes it's just a software glitch.
  • 2Test with Cable: Connect a PC directly to the modem via Ethernet. If it works there, the issue is your WiFi, not the ISP.
  • 3Check cables: Ensure the fiber or coax cable isn't bent, chewed by pets, or unplugged.

2. Gather Evidence

If you complain, you need proof. "It runs slow" is not a technical complaint. "I have 50% packet loss" is.

Run 3 Tests

Run tests at different times (morning, afternoon, night). Save screenshots of the results.

Note the numbers

  • Download speed vs plan
  • Packet Loss
  • High ping to local servers

3. Talking to Support

Use the correct terminology so they take you seriously and escalate your case to Level 2 (real technicians).

DON'T SAY:"The internet is bad"
BETTER SAY:"I am experiencing 15% packet loss and my download speed is 20Mbps when I pay for 300Mbps. I already tested via ethernet cable directly to the modem and restarted the equipment."

4. Is it a massive outage?

Before calling, check Twitter or sites like Downdetector. If it is a general outage in your area, calling won't speed up the fix. You just have to wait.

Armá la evidencia para tu reclamo

Antes de llamar a tu proveedor, corré el test y guardá los números. Con la velocidad real y un diagnóstico explicado por inteligencia artificial, tu reclamo pesa mucho más.
